Brazil v Chile World Cup Qualifier Preview

Brazil host Chile in the final round of South America’s qualifying group in the early hours of Wednesday morning and whilst Brazil have already secured a place in Russia 2018, Chile still have some work to do.

This is the final round of qualifiers and given Brazil are 10 points clear at the top of the South American group, they are already planning for the finals in Russia next year. Brazil lost their first qualifier, 2-0 in Chile, way back in October 2015 but since then they are 16 without defeat including 11 wins.  Their home record comprises of 7 wins and a draw with Uruguay and they have kept 5 clean sheets in those 8 matches.

Despite being in third place Chile’s predicament is nothing like as comfortable and they still need a positive result here to make sure they qualify automatically. A potential safety net is a fifth place finish and a play off with New Zealand over 2 legs but results elsewhere will dictate what Chile require and all the final round of games kick off at the same time.

Chile won 2-1 at home to Ecuador last week but they have earned just the 1 point from their last 5 away fixtures in this group and key midfielder Arturo Vidal is suspended.

Bet: Over 2.5 goals at 15/20

With qualification sealed Brazil could take their foot off the pedal but they have scored at least 2 goals in all their home qualifiers and the home crowd will want to see another win. If Brazil open the scoring Chile will be chasing the game and in those circumstances, over 2.5 goals could well be the way to go.
