FA Cup holders Arsenal take on EPL champions Chelsea in the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. We take a look at the game from a betting perspective.
Arsenal v Chelsea – click here to bet
Arsenal finished in 5th place in the English Premier League last season but they did manage to capture the FA Cup beating Chelsea 2-1 at this ground in the Final back in May. This will be the third time they have contested the Community Shield in the last 4 years having beaten Manchester City 3-0 in 2014 and Chelsea 1-0 a year later.
Since beating Arsenal in the Community Shield back in 2005 Chelsea have made 6 further appearances losing 5 of them, including their last 3 in a row dating back to 2010. Arsenal and Chelsea met just a couple of weeks ago in a club friendly with Chelsea winning 3-0 and both sides have had promising pre-season preparations.
Over and above the FA Cup final, the sides met twice in the League last season with the home team winning and scoring 3 goals on each occasion.
Suggested bet: Arsenal win at 22/10
Looking at these sides recent Community Shield records you get the feeling that Arsenal perhaps take it more seriously than Chelsea and I am backing the Gunners to pick up some silverware here, hopefully for the sake of their long suffering fans it will be the kickstart they need to challenge for the English Premier League title.
