The TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois plays host to this week’s PGA Tour event and given that many PGA regulars are in Europe preparing for the Open Championship, a weaker than usual line up takes to the 1st tee.
This par 71 layout will give up plenty of birdies and players will need to be on their game from round 1 as coming through the field after a slow start won’t be easy although it has been done before. Finding the greens with regularity is important as is a hot putter.
2016 – Ryan Moore -22
2015 – Jordan Spieth – 20 *
2014 – Brian Harman -22
2013 – Jordan Spieth – 19 *
2012 – Zach Johnson -20 *
Daniel Berger 15/1
Brian Harman 16/1
Charley Hoffman 20/1
Danny Lee 20/1
Kevin Kisner 22/1
Kyle Stanley 25/1
Steve Stricker 25/1
Zach Johnson 25/1
33/1 and better the balance, prices correct at the time of posting but subject to change
Charley Hoffman each way at 20/1
Hoffman comes off a short layoff but in great form having followed a T8 at the US Open with a T3 in his next event. His putting has improved in recent events and he looks poised to go close in a weak field.
Ryan Moore each way at 35/1
Moore is the defending champion and we backed him last year at 22/1 which is an indication of how poor his form has been in recent months. He is making his first PGA Tour start in a few weeks though and I am hoping he will go well fresh as he is certainly one of the class players in this field.
Wesley Bryan each way at 70/1
He ran a top 10 here in 2016 on debut and while his form of late hasn’t been great he has been making cuts and the price looks generous.
Chad Campbell each way at 70/1
He has a great record at this course with 1 top 10 and 3 top 15’s in 8 starts. He is coming off a top 10 finish last week and looks nicely priced in this field.
