The Pro 14 continues this weekend and we take a look at the 2 games featuring South African sides and suggest a bet on each.
Cheetahs v Ospreys – click here to bet
The Cheetahs have breathed new life into their Pro 14 campaign with successive home victories over Zebre and Leinster who they beat by 19 points in Bloemfontein last week despite starting the match as underdogs. They now sit 3rd on the table in Conference A on 10 points, 8 behind the leaders Glasgow Warriors and 5 points ahead of this weekend’s opponents the Ospreys.
The Ospreys went down 16-6 away to Benetton last weekend and prior to that they pushed Munster close at home going down by 5 points. The Ospreys only win this season was at home to Zebre and they beat them 22-13.
Cheetahs -8.5 at 5/6
Ospreys +8.5 at 5/6
Suggested bet: Handicap, Cheetahs -8.5 at 5/6.
The Cheetahs looked to have turned the corner and if they can produce anything like what they did last week against Leinster they should win this game going away.
Dragons v Southern Kings – click here to bet
The Dragons host the Kings on Saturday night and both teams are currently playing in Conference B where the Dragons are in 6th place, 4 points ahead of the bottom of the table Southern Kings.
The Dragons were well beaten 16-39 by Leinster in their opening match at home and they were also no match for Edinburgh on the road. Their only win then came at home to Connacht 21-8 and last week they were at the wrong end of a 27 point beating away to Ulster.
The Kings are still to secure a log point in 4 matches and they went down by 47 points to the Scarlets in week 1 and 22 points to Connacht in week 2 before playing in South Africa and losing by 21 to Leinster and then last week most disappointing at all going down by 26 points to Zebre despite starting the game as firm favourites.
Southern Kings 11/1
Dragons -21.5 at 5/6
Southern Kings +21.5 at 5/6
Suggested bet: Handicap, Dragons -21.5 at 5/6.
The Dragons haven’t been great this season but it really is hard to make a case for the Kings who seem to leak tries on a consistent basis with perhaps their best effort of the season coming against Leinster 2 weeks ago. The home team should win this and win it comfortably.
