We take a look at the 4 live Absa Premiership fixtures taking place over Saturday and Sunday and suggest a bet in each.

Ajax Cape Town v Cape Town Cityclick here to bet

Ajax are currently 12th on the log on 5 points from 5 matches and last weekend they drew 2-2 away with Baroka.  This will be their 3rd home match having beaten Polokwane 2-0 and drawn 1-1 with Arrows.

Cape Town City enter the weekend’s fixtures in 5th place on the log on 9 points from 5 matches.  They broke a 2 match losing run with a 1-0 win over Polokwane last Friday night and on the road have lost to Pirates 1-0 and beaten Wits 1-0.

Cape Town City won this fixture 2-0 last season and they also won the reverse 1-0 at home.

Betting

Ajax 13/10

Draw 2/1

Cape Town City 18/10

Suggested bet:  Cape Town City win at 18/10.

There is no surprise to see the draw being priced fairly short at 2/1 for this derby encounter but based on what I have seen of the sides to date I think Cape Town City can win this and they have been unlucky not to score a few more goals in their last couple of fixtures.

Kaizer Chiefs v Barokaclick here to bet

Kaizer Chiefs go into this fixture 4th on the log on 9 points from their 6 games.  They have only lost 1 match but drawn 3 and the high percentage of draws was a problem that haunted them last season.  They drew 0-0 at home to Golden Arrows last weekend and they have only taken 2 points from a possible 9 at home with 2 draws and a loss.  Five of Chiefs 6 matches have delivered for under 2.5 goal backers.

Baroka have been the surprise package of the PSL season and they sit 3 points and 2 positions above Chiefs, also having played 6 games.  They drew 2-2 at home with Ajax on the weekend breaking a run of 3 successive victories and they are undefeated on the road beating Bloem Celtic and Chippa United and drawing with Polokwane.  All of Baroka’s 6 matches have had 2 goals or less in them.

Betting

Kaizer Chiefs 7/10

Draw 22/10

Baroka 7/2

Suggested bet:  Kaizer Chiefs win at 7/10.

I toyed with getting involved in the exotic markets but have decided to keep things simple and will just be backing Chiefs to win a game against a Baroka side that I fancy we may see sliding down the table over the coming weeks.

Polokwane City v Orlando Pirates – click here to bet

Polokwane have a poor start to the season and they are 2nd from bottom of the table on 4 points from their 6 matches.  They lost 1-0 away to Cape Town City last weekend, their 4th successive loss and on the road they have lost their last 2 although they did beat Sundowns 2-1 away earlier in the season for their only victory.

Pirates go into this round of fixtures in 3rd position on 11 points from 6 games just 1 point off the top of the table.  They lost 1-0 to Wits away in their last start and prior to that they had won 3 and drawn 2 of their last 5 starts.  Pirates matches have been incredibly low scoring with 5 of the 6 games having 1 goal or less in it and the other game having 2 goals which is a 1-1 draw away to Baroka.

These sides met twice last season and both fixtures finished 1-1.

Betting

Polokwane City 22/10

Draw 21/10

Orlando Pirates 11/10

Suggested bet:  Over 2.5 goals at 15/10.

This will be a rare overs play for me in the PSL and at first glance the Pirates stats in particular suggest I may be making a mistake.  I have actually been quite impressed with them at times this season though and I feel it is a matter of time before they hit the goal trail and 2 of the 3 Polokwane home matches they have had 3 goals or more in them.

Platinum Stars v Mamelodi Sundowns click here to bet

Sunday’s televised game sees bottom of the table Platinum Stars in action against 9th placed Mamelodi Sundowns.

Stars have only taken 2 points from their opening 6 fixtures and they drew 1-1 away with AmaZulu last weekend.  5 of their 6 matches have had 2 goals or less in them and amazingly they have yet to score a goal in their 3 home matches only taking 1 point from a possible 9.

Sundowns have only played 3 matches due to commitments in the continent and they have won 2 and lost 1.  The most recent PSL action was a 2-1 away win over Free State Stars in the first half of September and that kept up a 100% away record with the other game being a 2-0 away win over SuperSport.

Sundowns won this fixture 2-1 last season and the sides played to a 2-2 draw when Sundowns hosted.

Betting

Platinum Stars 32/10

Draw 47/20

Mamelodi Sundowns 17/20

Suggested Bet:  Sundowns win at 17/20.

Platinum Stars have really looked awful this season and Sundowns should be too strong for them and they can make it 3 of 3 on the road this season.
