ATP Indian Wells Semi-Finals Preview

124

We take a look at the 2 semi-finals in the ATP Indian Wells Masters taking place later today and suggest a bet in each.

Dominic Thiem v Milos Raonic

7th seed Thiem has looked in excellent form in the Indian Wells to date winning both his first 2 matches in straight sets before getting a walk over in his quarter-final which was to have been against Monfils.  He now faces 13th seed Raonic who beat Kecmanovic in his quarter-final 6-3 and 6-4.  He has only dropped one set on route to reaching the last 4.

This pair have met twice before with Raonic winning on each occasion, but they have not met since 2016.

Dominic Thiem 27/20

Milos Raonic 11/20

Suggested Bet: Thiem win at 27/20

Raonic holds a clear career edge, but given the time that has passed since they last played I will be ignoring that and based on current form I think Thiem is a big runner.

Roger Federer v Rafael Nadal

4th seed Roger Federer has looked in sublime form, winning all 4 of his matches in straight sets including beating Hurkacz 6-4, 6-4 in his quarter-final.  Federer’s last Tournament was a victory in Dubai and he has yet to drop a set in this Tournament.  Nadal was given a hard run in his quarter-final eventually beating Khachanov 7-6 and 7-6.  He had cruised through his other 3 matches in straight sets.

Federer and Nadal have met 38 times on tour with Nadal holding a 23-15 career lead, but Federer has won the last 5 head-to-heads between the pair.

Roger Federer 9/20

Rafael Nadal 7/4

Suggested bet:  Total number of sets 3 at 5/4

Recent matches between these two have been a bit one sided towards Federer, but Nadal is playing well and I fancy this to go the distance.
