ATP Sydney, Semi-Finals Betting Preview

We are down to the final 4 players in Sydney and the men’s semi-finals takes place on Friday and we suggest a bet in each.

Daniil Medvedev v Fabio Fognini

Qualifier Daniil Medvedev reached the last 4 when he took just 72 minutes to knock out Paolo Lorenzi in two sets, 6-3 and 6-3 in the quarter-finals.  In the semi-finals he will face 4th seed Fabio Fognini who came from a set down in the quarters to win in 3 sets, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4) and 6-2 against the 5th seed Adrian Mannarino.

Fognini leads Medvedev 1-0 in the head-to-head

Medvedev 19/20

Fognini 8/10

Suggested Bet: Total Sets – 3 at 23/20

This looks as evenly matched as the betting suggests and I think there is a good chance it goes the distance. Fognini won their only head to head clash in 2 tight sets and I think an improving Medvedev can push him even further this time.

Alex de Minaur v Benoit Paire

Alex de Minaur took 86 minutes to advance to the semi-finals when he defeated Feliciano Lopez in 2 sets, 6-4 and 6-4.  At 18 years of age he now becomes the lowest ranked Sydney semi-finalist since 1989.  He will face Benoit Paire who reached the last 4 with a 2 set win, 6-4 and 6-4 over the 2nd seed and defending champion, Gilles Muller.  This will be Paire’s 2nd ATP World Tour semi-final of the new season.

In the head-to-head De Minaur leads Paire 1-0

Alex de Minaur 9/10

Benoit Paire 9/10

Suggested bet: Alex de Minaur win at 9/10

The youngster looks to have a bright future and given he already has a career record over his more experienced opponent I am keen to get on him to book a spot in the final.
