ATP Sydney Semi-Finals, Preview

The ATP Sydney is the last event before the Australia Open and the semi-finals take place Friday morning South African time.

Andreas Seppi v Diego Schwartzman

8th seed Seppi beat top seed Tsitsipas in a thrilling 3 set quarter-final coming from a set down to win 4-6, 6-4 & 6-4. It was his second 3 setter having been taken the distance by Chardy in his opening match.

Schwartzman is seeded 3 and he required a tiebreak in the 3rd set to beat the unseeded Nishioka. His first game was in the last 16 where he beat Garcia-Lopez in straight sets.

The pair have never played against each other on tour.

Seppi 14/10

Schwartzman 5/10

Suggested Bet:  Correct Set Score Schwartzman 2-0 at 12/10

Seppi could be running out of steam and I think the younger player will win this fairly comfortably.

Gilles Simon v Alex De Minaur

4th seed Simon required 3 very close sets to beat the unseeded Millman 7-5, 3-6 & 7-6 in his last 8 match. He had a similar battle to get past Querrey in his last 16 match.

De Minaur the 5th seed beat the unseeded Thompson 7-6 & 6-3 to book his spot in the last 4. He has yet to drop a set in 3 matches played

The pair have met once with De Minaur winning in 3 sets in Tokyo last year.

Simon 7/4

De Minaur 9/20

Suggested Bet: Correct set Score De Minaur 2-0 at 23/20

De Minaur looks a worthy favourite and although he has played an extra match he has had an easier passage than Seppi and I am expecting a straight sets win.
