Two of South Africa’s finest boxers Thabiso Mchunu and Tommy Oosthuizen take each other on at Emperors Palace for the ABU Cruiserweight Title on Saturday night and we take a look at the bout from a betting angle.
Thabiso “The Rock” Mchunu
Thabiso is a natural cruiser weight with a record of 23 fights, 19 wins, 12 of which came by knock-out and 4 losses. If there is a concern for his camp it is that 3 of his losses have occurred in his last 6 fights suggesting that he may be starting to reach the ceiling of his boxing career. Fighting as a Southpaw, Mchunu stands at 1.8 metres tall with a reach of 187 centimetres.
Tommy “The Machine Gun” Oosthuizen
Tommy is like his opponent 30 years of age and is a Southpaw. He has a record of 30 fights, 27 wins, 16 of which were by KO with a single loss and 2 draws. Oosthuizen has generally plied his trade in the light divisions and steps up to cruiserweight but being a tall man )he stands a full 13 centimetres taller than is opponent) he has scope to pick up the additional weight without detracting from his power and speed. Oosthuizen has had something of a chequered career at times and at one point was released by his promoter Rodney Berman for failing to take the chances he was given. He had a stint in rehabilitation and has subsequently mended fences with Rodney Berman and will be looking to this fight to get his career back on track having lost his last bout in Germany where he fought for the vacant IBU light heavy weight title.
The winner of this fight will be in action in December for the WBC International Title.

Thabiso Mchunu 5/10
Tommy Oosthuizen 16/10
Suggested bet: Thabiso Mchunu win at 5/10.
This should be a cracking fight but I am not convinced that Tommy Oosthuizen is ready to step up to cruiserweight and take on the powerful Mchunu. While I don’t necessarily expect this fight to end early this bet does come with a promotion that if Mchunu wins inside 4 rounds your winnings will be doubled in free bets – See banner below.
