After a disappointing performance in the Dubai 7’s, the Blitzboks will be looking to bounce back with victory in front of their home crowd in the Cape Town 7’s which takes place this weekend.
New Zealand took an early lead in the World Series race with victory in Dubai, beating the USA in the final. England pipped Australia into 3rd place and pre-tournament favourites, Fiji and defending champions, South Africa finished 5th and 6th. Click here for series betting.
Since moving to the Cape Town stadium, we have had three different winners, with South Africa winning 3 years ago, England the year after that and last year it was New Zealand who won beating Argentina in the final.

South Africa 11/4
New Zealand 39/10
99/1 and better the balance
Below a look at the four pools for the Cape Town 7’s.
New Zealand, South Africa, Samoa, Zimbabwe
This looks a two horse race between New Zealand and South Africa but beware of Samoa who showed signs of brilliance last week and gave South Africa a good game.
USA, Argentina, Spain, Japan
This looks like the easiest of the groups and the USA should win it from Argentina although Argentina are capable of defeating the USA on their day.
England, Fiji, France, Kenya
England and Fiji should have few problems progressing and from what I saw last week neither France nor Kenya are likely to cause an upset.
Australia, Scotland, Canada, Wales
Australia should top the group and Scotland look clear second favourites although Canada are capable of upsetting them and did manage a 4th place here last year.
Suggested Bet: South Africa win at 11/4.
South Africa let me down last week at a tournament in which they normally go well but I am actually hoping that the slow start may count in their favour and that they improve and get to win their home tournament for the first time in 3 years.
There will be match betting and in-running betting on each and every game and it is no surprise that 7’s is becoming a favourite of sports punters
