Champions League Quarter-Final Preview, Tuesday 16 April

We take a look at the 2 UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg matches taking place on Tuesday and suggest a bet in each.

Barcelona v Manchester United – click here to bet

Barcelona have firmed to 5-2 favourites to win the Tournament (click here for outright betting) after they got the away win they were looking for at Old Trafford 2 weeks ago.  They scored early and held on for a 1-0 victory and when you consider that they have not lost at home in Europe this season, it is evident that Manchester United have a mountain to climb.  Barcelona have played 4 home games, winning 3 and drawing 1 with that draw coming against Tottenham in the Group stages.  They beat Lyon 5-1 at home in the first leg of their last 16 match.

Manchester United can take hope from their last 16 encounter with PSG where they lost 2-0 at home only to storm back to win 3-1 on the road to book their spot in the last 8.  They also beat Juventus away in the Group stages and if anything they have been more dangerous on the road than at home this season in this competition.

On the domestic front Barcelona drew 0-0 away with Huesca on the weekend but no doubt one eye would have been on this match while Manchester United beat West Ham 2-1 at home thanks to a couple of penalties.

Suggested bet:  Over 3.5 goals at 11/10

This could be a very entertaining affair with United forced to push forward and that will leave them exposed at the back.  I think we will get goals at both ends, but prefer the over 3.5 play at 11/10 to the both teams to score play which is priced at 7/10.

Juventus v Ajaxclick here to bet

Juventus and Ajax drew the first leg 1-1 at Ajax and Juventus now play at home where they won 3 of their 4 matches this season with the only defeat coming in the Group stages to Manchester United.  They were very impressive in the last 16 having trailed Atletico Madrid 2-0 from the away leg before storming back to win 3-0 at home.  They did lose in the League to Spal this past weekend, but they have won their last 5 domestic games at home.

Ajax lost the first leg of their last 16 match 2-1 at home to Real Madrid before storming back to beat the Spanish giants 4-1 on the road.  They have not lost on their travels in Europe this season with 3 draws and that win over Madrid.  They are travelling very well domestically and have won their last 4 League games.

Suggested bet:  Juventus win at 7/10

Ajax have proven they can get results on the road, but this Juventus side look a cut above them and I am keeping things simple with a home win.
