Croatia and England meet at the Luzhniki Stadium on Wednesday night and the winner will advance to the World Cup Final on Sunday. We take a close look at the game and suggest a bet.
The first semi-final between France and Belgium would have been played out on Tuesday night so there will be changes to the outright betting but at the time of writing France are 2/1 favourites, England are 5/2, Belgium 28/10 and Croatia the outsiders of the quartet at 4/1. Harry Kane is trading as a 1/10 favourite to win the Golden Boot and he is also a 7/2 joint favourite to be the Player of the Tournament – click here for all outright betting markets.

Croatia looked very impressive in the early stages of the World Cup winning all 3 of their group matches including beating Argentina 3-0. They have been less impressive in their last 2 games though requiring penalties to see off Denmark in the last 16 as well as Russia in the Quarter-Finals. They have some fitness concerns in the squad and the fact that they have gone to extra time twice might well count against them.
England finished 2nd in their group with two victories and a loss to Belgium in their final game. They then required penalties to beat Colombia in the last 16 before disposing of Sweden 2-0 in an impressive quarter-final performance.
These sides last met in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup where England were comprehensive winners 5-1 at home and 4-1 on the road. 5 of the 6 meetings between the sides have had 4 goals or more in them although being a World Cup Semi-Final I very much doubt that this will be the case this time around
Suggested bet: The draw at 41/20.
England seem to have benefited from a fairly easy group and they certainly look the fresher of the two sides. That being said, Croatia is the toughest team they have come up against and while it is a fairly boring selection I think the draw is once again a massive runner here.
