The Denver Nuggets host the San Antonio Spurs as the NBA action continues this evening.
The Denver Nuggets will be reeling after their 122-79 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Monday. It’s not only the margin of the loss that is a concern, the Nuggets were outscored in all four quarters of the game. One could make the argument that they lost to the best team in the NBA but they are on a 3 game losing streak, losing by an average of 20 points over those three games. In the past they’ve managed to keep their losses respectable but this current slide does not bode well for the side currently 3rd in the Northwest Division.
The San Antonio Spurs are having a poor season by their standards. The reigning NBA Champions find themselves 4th in the Southwest division and dreams of a repeat Championship are fading fast. They have picked up some good results over the last few matches, winning 7 of their last 10 including a recent 110-96 victory over the Division leaders the Trailblazers. Their average margin of victory in their last 5 wins is 11 points whilst their 3 recent losses were by a respectable average of 5.6 points.
Denver Nuggets 5/2, San Antonio Spurs 7/20
Denver Nuggets +7.5 8/10, San Antonio Spurs -7.5 17/20
Over / Under 204.5 8/10
With the defending champions looking in good form and on a 3 game winning streak it’s difficult not to back them against a side that was just blown out. I do expect a response from the Nuggets but they seem bereft of confidence at the moment and their defense is really struggling. Spurs have won 4 of the 5 matches between the sides and should pick up an easy victory this evening. The Spurs should cover the -7.5 in a match I expect to go over the posted total.
