The first of two Mzansi Super League matches taking place on Friday sees Durban Heat host the in-form Jozi Stars at Kingsmead
Durban Heat were in action on Wednesday night at home to NMB Giants and no result was possible after rain halted play with NMB on 121/2 after 13.3 overs. It was still a significant result as it meant Durban Heat remain bottom of the log and given they are 14 points behind the third placed Jozi Stars they are not going to be a factor in the playoffs.
The Heat suffered 2 heavy defeats last weekend, away to their opponents here (53 runs) and then Paarl Rocks (9 wickets). The Heat did beat the Spartans in a home fixture back in Match 6, their only win to date and that seems a long time ago.
Jozi Stars come into the game having reeled off 3 successive wins and they now have an overall record of 4 wins and 3 defeats. They are third in the standings, just 1 point behind the Giants and 5 shy of Cape Town Blitz and they have a game in hand on the top 2.
Reeza Hendricks has been in blistering form of late and that continued on Tuesday night when he smashed 79 of Stars total of 196/4 away to log leaders Cape Town Blitz. The Jozi bowlers then did their bit and 4 wickets for Dan Christian helped bowl out the Blitz for 146 as Jozi came through with a 50 run victory.
When these teams met in Joburg in Match 16 Stars also won comfortably. Hendricks was unbeaten on 104 as they posted a mammoth 230/3 and they came out on top by 53 runs.

It’s hard to believe how bad the Heat have been and Jozi have the greater incentive here.
