The EFC juggernaut descends on Carnival City on Saturday 21 February where punters can look forward to an undercard followed by some serious title action.
World Sports Betting are offering odds on the full card but for the purpose of this preview we will focus on the main bouts which start at 20h00.
Mat Buirski v Tumisang “The President” Madiba
These two have met before with Buirski shading a points decision. They have enjoyed different fortunes of late though with Madiba having won 3 in a row while Buirski is coming off a couple of defeats albeit against top quality opposition. Madiba is the more aggressive of the pair and will be intent on finishing things early whereas Buirski is perhaps the more patient and is prepared to go the distance.
Buirski 1/1, Madiba 15/20
Darren “Double D” Daniel v Dricus “Still Knocks” Du Plessis
Daniel is making his return to the ring after a lengthy absence and he as due to fight JP “Tinkerbell” Kruger however an injury to the latter means that Du Plessis will step in for this Middleweight bout. Du Plessis has put off a move to Welterweight having tasted defeat in his last fight. Daniel is a man who has never had a fight go beyond 2 rounds and prior to his defeat to “Pitbull” Smith he was on a 5 fight winning streak.
Daniel 12/10, Du Plessis 6/10
David Buirski v Adam “The Prodigy” Speechly
This fight was to have taken place in December however Speechly picked up an injury. Buirski is a rare breed in that he is not a full time fighter but runs a family business. Speechly is the current champion but the Welterweight division is said to be cursed with champions unable to defend. The betting suggests that the curse will finally be broken with Speechly a big favourite to claim the win.
Buirski 16/10, Speechly 9/20
“Magic Man” Don Madge v Leon “Iron Lion” Mynhardt
This is the 3rd time these men are meeting with Mynhardt having won the previous encounters but not without some controversy with many believe Madge should have got the verdict when the two fought for the Lightweight title. Mynhardt has gone on to defend twice in convincing fashion but this is the fight that will define his career. He is an aggressive fighter and with no love lost my money would be on this contest being named fight of the night.
Madge 1/1, Mynhardt 7/10
Some really competitive bouts on the card and my main bet will be on Mynhardt to finally silence those who feel he has been fortunate to beat Madge. I also reckon Buirski can push Speechly all the way and the 16/10 about the curse continuing is certainly tempting.
My 2nd bet though is Daniel over Du Plessis at 12/10. A great fighter before he took time off there is the risk that he is rusty but on the other hand Du Plessis had to respond to a late call for this fight and may not be 100%. I reckon Daniel makes a winning return to action.
Daniel win at 12/10
Mynhardt win at 7/10
