England v New Zealand, International Rugby Preview

England and New Zealand meet in a long awaited clash at Twickenham on Saturday and we take a look at the game and suggest a bet

England scraped home 12-11 against the Boks in a low scoring encounter at Twickenham last weekend.  They failed to score a try and they were very fortunate that the Springboks did not get a penalty in the final minute that might have seen them win the game.  They are always a formidable force at home and although they did lose to the Irish in the Six Nations, they had few problems seeing off Argentina, Australia and Samoa in last Novembers Internationals.

New Zealand sent a second string team to Japan last week and they had few problems in winning by 38 points to narrowly beat the handicap.  Their only loss this year came at home to South Africa, 36-34, in Wellington and in last year’s November Internationals they comfortably saw off Wales and France and narrowly beat Scotland by 5 points.

England and New Zealand have not met since 2014 when the All Blacks won narrowly at Twickenham, 24-21.  New Zealand have won 7 of the last 8 head-to-head meetings between the sides at Twickenham.

England 9/2

Draw 30/1

New Zealand 2/11

England +13.5 at 9/10

New Zealand -13.5 at 9/10

Suggested bet:  Handicap, England (+13.5) at 9/10.

There has been some support on the handicap market for the All Blacks who have shifted from -12.5 to -13.5 but I think the home team have a decent chance here and will have come on from what was rather a rusty performance against South Africa.  They have a pack to trouble the All Blacks and I think they can keep this close.
