England and South Africa meet in the 3rd match of a 4 test series at Kennington Oval on Thursday and we take a look at the game from a betting perspective.
The Proteas bounced back from a mauling at the hands of England in the 1st test at Lords to win the 2nd test at Trent Bridge by 340 runs. Amla and de Kock both made 50’s in what looked a moderate first innings total of 335 but the South Africa bowlers were up to the challenge and bowled the English out for 205. The Proteas then scored an impressive 343 for 9 in their second innings with Elgar and Amla both getting to 80 and the English were then bowled out for a paltry 110 runs.
England don’t have a great record at the Kennington Oval losing 3 of their last 5 matches and the last time South Africa played here was in 2012 and they won by an innings and 12 runs.

Suggested Bet: Top home batsman, Root at 22/10.
I backed Root in this market in the first 2 tests and although his price keeps shortening I see no reason to stop now as he has delivered on both occasions. He is far and away the quality of this English batting line up and captaincy does not appear to have affected his form. I am going to sit out the match betting but it is certainly interesting to see that England are now more than double the price they were heading into the 2nd test where they started as short as 6/10
