EPL Preview, 12 January

There are 7 English Premier League matches taking place on Saturday and we take a look at each of them from a betting angle.

West Ham v Arsenalclick here to bet

West Ham are 10th on the table with their last action been a 2-2 home draw against Brighton.  They have been a bit inconsistent at home winning just 4 of their 11 games.  Arsenal got back to winning ways when they beat Fulham 4-1 at home on New Year’s Day and they have consolidated their 5th position on the table.  The Gunners have a 40% win rate on the road this season but haven’t won away from home in their last 4.

Suggested Bet: The draw at 57/20

Arsenal won the reverse fixture 4-1 but West Ham are well capable of pushing them and this fixture has been drawn 2 of the last 3 renewals.

Brighton v Liverpoolclick here to bet

Brighton are 13th on the table but they have only had 1 victory in their last 6 starts although they are undefeated in their last 3.  They have won 50% of their home matches and 50% of their home games have delivered for over 2.5 goal backers.  Liverpool had their lead at the top of the table cut to 4 points when they lost 2-1 away at Manchester City last time out.  They were also dumped out of the FA Cup by Wolves on Monday night and their nervous fans will be looking for them to steady the ship.  They have won 8 out of 11 on the road this season

Suggested Bet: Handicap, Brighton (+1), the draw at 57/20

I have a feeling that the Liverpool confidence has been rattled somewhat and they may battle to get past this Brighton side.  For this bet to arrive I need Liverpool to win by 1 goal exactly.

Burnley v Fulhamclick here to bet

Burnley are coming off back-to-back victories and are up to 16th on the table.  Their last win was a 2-1 result at Huddersfield and prior to that they had beaten West Ham at home.  Fulham are 2nd from bottom of the table and their 3 match run without a loss ended when they were beaten 4-1 by Arsenal on the 1st of January.  Burnley have win 3 out of 10 home matches but Fulham have yet to win on the road this season.

Suggested Bet: Burnley win at 27/20

Fulham won the reverse fixture 4-2 but they really battle on the road and Burnley are in good form.

Cardiff v Huddersfieldclick here to bet

Cardiff are hovering just above the relegation zone in 17th spot but they have lost 3 of their last 5 matches including going down 3-0 at home to Tottenham in their last start.  The majority of Cardiff’s points have come at home where they have taken 13 from a possible 33.  Huddersfield are rock bottom of the table and their 2-1 home defeat by Burnley was their 8th successive loss.

Suggested Bet: Cardiff win at 5/4

Cardiff have been reasonable at home this season and the way Huddersfield are playing it is hard to see where their next victory is going to come from.

Crystal Palace v Watfordclick here to bet

Palace are 14th on the table after a victory away at Wolves last time out.  They have struggled at home this season, winning just 2 from 10 matches and their home games have been the lowest scoring in the EPL, averaging just 1.4 goals each with only 1 of the 10 fixtures delivering for over 2.5 goal backers.  Watford are 8th on the table after successive draws away at Bournemouth and at home to Newcastle.  Both teams have scored in Watford’s last 3 matches and they have only lost 1 of their last 5 on the road.  Watford away games averaged 2.7 goals but only 3 of the 10 have had 3 goals or more in them.

Suggested Bet: Both teams to score, YES at 17/20

The Crystal Palace home stats suggests this is a risky bet but Watford look a side who are going to score goals but also concede.

Leicester v Southamptonclick here to bet

Leicester are 7th on the table having won 3 of their last 4 matches including stunning Everton 1-0 away last time out.  They were dumped out of the FA Cup on the weekend but this maybe a blessing as they look to consolidate their EPL position on the table.  Leicester’s home games averaged 2.2 goals each with 4 of the 10 delivering for over 2.5 goal backers.  Southampton are in 18th spot, the final relegation position and they have only taken 1 point from the last 9 they have played for in the League.  Their last match was a creditable 0-0 draw away at Chelsea and they have only won 2 out of 11 away games this season.

Suggested Bet:  Under 2.5 goals at 15/20

This is historically a low scoring fixture with 2 goalless draws and a 1-0 victory to Leicester in the last 3 years.

Chelsea v Newcastleclick here to bet

Saturday’s final match sees 4th placed Chelsea hosting 15th placed Newcastle.  Chelsea dropped points at home last time out playing to a goalless draw against Southampton and they have won 6 of 11 home games, drawing 4 and losing 1.  Newcastle have begun slipping back down the table after a run which has seen them take 2 points from the last 12 they have played for.  Their last start was a 2-0 home loss to Manchester United and they have only won on the road twice in 10 attempts this season.

Suggested Bet: Handicap, Chelsea (-1) at 7/10

Chelsea have an excellent record at home against Newcastle and this bet would have arrived in the last 6 games played between the sides at Stamford Bridge.
