EPL Preview, 12 May

The English Premier League title race will be decided on Sunday when all 10 matches take place simultaneously.  We take a look at each game and suggest a bet in each of them.

Manchester City hold their destiny in their hands and are currently 1/8 favourites to win the title with Liverpool 11/2.  There are also odds in the top goal scorer market where Salah is now a very firm 1/3 favourite ahead of Aguero at 4/1 – click here for outright markets

Brighton v Manchester City – click here to bet

City have been magnificent in ending the season with 14 straight victories including a hard fought 1-0 home win over Leicester on Monday night.  They face a horribly out of form Brighton side that have drawn 3 and lost 5 of their last 8 matches, but they are assured of another season of EPL football.

Suggested Bet:  Under 3.5 goals at even money

It is hard to see Brighton getting anything out of this and I think City may go ahead early and once they are a couple of goals clear will step off the gas.

Burnley v Arsenalclick here to bet

Burnley have only taken 1 point from their last 9, but they are safe in the EPL for another season, currently 15th on the log.  They face Arsenal who progressed to the Europa League Final in midweek, but they have only taken 1 point from the last 12 they have played for in the League.

Suggested Bet:  The draw at 28/10

I think Arsenal’s focus will now be firmly on the Europa League and a top 4 place now looks beyond them.  With this drop in focus, Burnley can grab a point.

Palace v Bournemouthclick here to bet

12th placed Palace hosts 13th placed Bournemouth and both sides are coming off victories with Palace beating Cardiff 3-2 away and Bournemouth beating Tottenham 1-0 at home.

Suggested Bet:  Handicap, Bournemouth (+1) at 19/20

Palace have only won 4 times at home this season and Bournemouth have an excellent record at Palace, drawing 2 and winning 1 of their last 3.

Fulham v Newcastleclick here to bet

Fulham have won 3 of their last 4 matches despite being relegated from the EPL.  Their last 4 games have all delivered for under 2.5 goal backers with only 1 team finding the net in each game.  Newcastle are 14th on the table and have won just 3 times in 18 road trips this season.

Suggested Bet: Fulham win at 15/10

I have been impressed how Fulham have ended the season and Newcastle have really battled on the road.

Leicester v Chelseaclick here to bet

Leicester fought hard in going down 1-0 away to Manchester City on Monday night and they go into this fixture 9th on the table.  Chelsea are 3rd on the log and required penalties to get to the Europa Cup Final on Thursday night.

Suggested Bet:  Leicester win at 14/10

Leicester have won 4 of their last 5 home games and they face a Chelsea side that is assured of a top 4 finish and will now be focusing on their big Europa Final against Arsenal.

Liverpool v Wolvesclick here to bet

Liverpool need to keep on winning and hope that Manchester City slip up in the final day of the season.  They go into the fixture 1 point behind City and will need nothing less than a victory to stand a chance of winning the title.  They are on an 8 match winning run and were excellent in coming back from 3-0 down to beat Barcelona in the Champions League.

Wolves are assured of a 7th placed finish on the table after 3 successive victories including a 2-1 away win over Watford in their last road trip.

Suggested Bet:  Handicap, Liverpool (-1) at 17/20

Liverpool won the reverse fixture 2-0 and given Wolves are secure in 7th spot I think they will be the more focused of the two sides and can win this comfortably.

United have only taken 2 points from the last 12 they have played for and they are set to finish 6th or best 5th on the table.  Cardiff have been relegated and have lost 6 of their last 7 matches including 4 of their last 5 away games.

Suggested Bet:  Under 3.5 goals and Man United win at 5/4

This looks like a tough betting heat, but United should win this or though given their recent form we may not see that many goals

Southampton v Huddersfieldclick here to bet

16th placed Southampton host Huddersfield who are destined to finish last with just 15 points from their 37 games.  Southampton haven’t had a great end to the season and have only taken 2 points from their last 4 matches and Huddersfield broke an 8 match losing streak taking a point at home to  Manchester United in their last start.

Suggested Bet:  Handicap, Southampton (-1) at 21/20

Southampton won the reverse fixture 3-1 and I expect a similar result at home against a Huddersfield side that has really travelled badly this season.

Tottenham v Everton – click here to bet

Tottenham had a stunning midweek comeback win over Ajax to book their spot in the Champions League Final, but domestically they have lost 3 of their last 4 games and currently sit 4th on the table, 3 points ahead of Arsenal and with a superior goal difference.

Everton are 8th on the log after 3 wins in their last 5 and the last 4 head-to-head matches between these sides in the League has seen a total of 20 goals.

Suggested Bet:  Over 3.5 goals at 17/10

I am not really sure what to expect of this game so a bit of speculative play based on the fact that 3 of the last 4 head-to-heads have delivered 4 goals or more.

Watford v West Hamclick here to bet

10th placed Watford host 11th placed West Ham who sit just a point behind them.  Watford’s recent form hasn’t been great with just 1 win in their last 5 whereas West Ham are coming off successive victories against Tottenham and Southampton.

Suggested Bet:  West Ham win at 21/10

Watford are limping in towards the end of the season and I suspect that all focus is now on the FA Cup.  West Ham had a good away win over Spurs last time out and I think they can follow up here.
