EPL Preview, Saturday 20 October

We take a look at the 8 English Premier League fixtures taking place on Saturday and suggest a bet in each.

Chelsea v Manchester Unitedclick here to bet

This is without doubt the match of the weekend, a 2nd placed Chelsea host 8th placed Manchester United.

Chelsea beat Southampton 3-0 away in their last start and they have won 3 and drawn 1 of their 4 home matches.  United came from 2-0 down to beat Newcastle 3-2 at home in their last match and on the road they have won 2 and lost 2, with defeats coming against West Ham and Brighton.

Chelsea 7/10

Draw 29/10

Manchester United 79/20

Suggested bet:  Chelsea win at 7/10.

I don’t believe that Manchester United have turned the corner yet and I am going to keep things simple and go for a Chelsea win.

Bournemouth v Southamptonclick here to bet

Bournemouth are 6th on the log after successive victories at home to Palace and away at Watford and they face a Southampton side that is 16th on the table and that has lost their last 3 and are without a victory in 4 matches.

Bournemouth 21/20

Draw 26/10

Southampton 27/10

Suggested bet:  Bournemouth win at 21/20.

Southampton have been very poor on the road with just 3 points out of a possible 12 and Bournemouth were very impressive in their last match away to Watford.

Cardiff v Fulham click here to bet

Cardiff are bottom of the table on just 2 points from their 8 matches and they have lost their last 5.  Fulham were badly beaten 5-1 at home by Arsenal last time out and they are currently just outside the relegation zone in 17th.

Cardiff 29/20

Draw 49/20

Fulham 39/20

Suggested bet:  Under 2.5 goals at 19/20.

These sides are both struggling and I expect a tight cagey affair.

Manchester City v Burnleyclick here to bet

Manchester City are top of the table on goal difference despite playing to a goalless draw away to Liverpool in their last start.  They have won all 4 home matches scoring 13 goals and conceding just 2.  Burnley have taken 7 points from their last 9 and are 12th on the table.  Their only away win was in their last away match, a 2-1 victory at Cardiff.

Manchester City 1/12

Draw 11/1

Burnley 34/1

Suggested bet:  Correct Score, City 4-0 25/4, City 5-0 19/2.

It is tough to find a betting angle in such a one-sided encounter and these correct score bets will give me an interest

Newcastle United v Brightonclick here to bet

Newcastle are still looking for their first win of the season and they are currently 2nd from bottom of the log.  They led 2-0 at Old Trafford last time out before losing 3-2.  They have lost all 4 of their home matches this season. Brighton are 13th on the table but have battled on the road and have currently taken only 1 point from a possible 12.

Newcastle United 12/10

Draw 43/20

Brighton 53/20

Suggested bet:  The draw at 43/20.

Newcastle would have taken some positives out of the United defeat and when a bad home record meets a bad away record I am going to go for the draw.

West Ham v Tottenham Hotspurclick here to bet

Fifteenth placed West Ham were beaten 1-0 away to Brighton in their last start but their last home game was a 3-1 win over Manchester United.  They now face Tottenham who won 3 on the trot including away wins at Huddersfield and Brighton.

West Ham 31/10

Draw 57/20

Tottenham Hotspur 17/20

Suggested bet:  Handicap, West Ham (+1) at 9/10.

West Ham lost their opening 4 matches but they have looked a lot better since then and on the basis of their 3-1 win over United, I think we can get something against Spurs.

Wolves v Watfordclick here to bet

Wolves are 7th on the table, 2 positions above Watford who have faded after a fast start.  Wolves are unbeaten in their last 6 matches, with 4 wins and 2 draws whereas Watford have only taken 1 point from the last 12 they have played for and were thrashed 4-0 at home by Bournemouth last time out.

Wolves 15/20

Draw 53/20

Watford 4/1

Suggested bet:  Wolves win at 15/20.

This looks an excellent price based on current form and I can only see one winner here.

Huddersfield v Liverpoolclick here to bet

Saturday’s final match sees 18th place Huddersfield host 3rd place Liverpool.  Huddersfield are still looking for their first win of the season and they have only taken 1 point at home.  Liverpool opened with 6 successive victories but they have drawn 1-1 away to Chelsea and 0-0 at home to Manchester City in their last 2 starts.

Huddersfield 37/4

Draw 17/4

Liverpool 7/20

Suggested bet:  Handicap, Liverpool (-1) at 9/10.

Huddersfield are really battling this season and after a couple of tough matches Liverpool will be keen to get their campaign back on track and I am betting they will win by more than a goal.
