We have 3 English Premier League matches to sink our teeth into on Sunday and we take a look at them from a betting angle.
Liverpool v West Ham –click here to bet
Liverpool finished 4th in the League last season and they did that on the back of some superb home form going through the season undefeated and scoring 2 goals or more in 9 of their last home matches. West Ham finished 13th and while their away form wasn’t great, they are currently on a run of scoring goals in 11 consecutive away games.
West Ham 11/1
Suggested bet: Goals home team, 3 or more, at 17/20.
Given West Ham’s ability to score goals on the road I was considering both teams to score at 19/20 but Liverpool did keep 5 consecutive clean sheets at home at the back end of last season. I expect a lot from Liverpool this year and I am backing them to score 3 goals or more in this one.
Southampton v Burnley – click here to bet
Southampton finished 17th and Burnley a surprising 7th last season and both teams will be looking to get off to a positive start. Southampton really struggled at home at the back end of their campaign only winning 1 of their last 11 and Burnley only lost 1 of their last 5 on the road.
Suggested bet: Double chance, Burnley or the draw, at 19/20.
This should be quite a close contest and as I have a feeling that Southampton will struggle this season I am leaning towards the visitors getting at least a point.
Arsenal v Manchester City – click here to bet
The big match of the weekend sees last year’s 6th place Arsenal take on runaway champions Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal have finally parted ways with their previous manager Arsene Wenger and a look at their home form at the end of last season shows they won their last 5, scoring at least 2 goals on each occasion but when City came to visit they were beaten 3-0. City won their last 6 matches on the road including victories over Arsenal and Spurs.
Manchester City 9/10
Suggested bet: Over 3.5 goals at 5/4.
This game looks likely to be an absolute thriller and I am looking forward to seeing what a new look Arsenal team can bring to the party. I expect they will be able to find the net but at the same time will struggle to keep their opponents out and I am betting we will get 4 goals or more in the game.
