EPL Preview, Wednesday 3 April

We take a look at the 3 English Premier League matches taking place on Wednesday from a betting angle.

Chelsea v Brightonclick here to bet

Chelsea had to come from behind to beat Cardiff 2-1 away in midweek and the result leaves them 6th on the table and still very much in the fight for a top 4 finish.  Chelsea have been strong at home this season losing just once in 15 games and winning 9 times.

Brighton are 15th on the table and not quite out of danger as far as relegation goes.  They lost 1-0 at home to Southampton in their last start but their last away game was a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace, but overall they battled on the road with just 3 wins in 15 starts.

Suggested bet:  Handicap, Chelsea (-1) at 15/20

Chelsea are a different beast at home and with Brighton struggling at the moment and the stakes very high for Chelsea, I think the home team will win by more than a goal here.

Tottenham v Crystal Palaceclick here to bet

Tottenham are 3rd on the table at the time of writing, but may well have dropped a couple of positions by the time this match takes place.  They were beaten 2-1 away at Liverpool on Sunday after looking like they had come back to grab a point and they have only taken 1 point of the last 15 they have played for in the league.  They have won 9 out of 14 home games this season and are undefeated in their last 4 matches in front of their own fans.

Crystal Palace are 13th on the table and set for another season in the English Premier League.  They beat Huddersfield 2-0 on the weekend and have won their last 2 away matches at Burnley and Leicester both by comfortable margins.

Spurs won the reverse fixture 1-0 at Palace.

Suggested bet:  Both teams to score, YES, at 8/10

Palace are always good at hitting sides on the break when on the road and both teams have scored in 5 of the last 6 Tottenham matches and 5 of the last 6 Crystal Palace games.

Manchester City v Cardiffclick here to bet

Manchester City are 2nd in the League, 2 points behind Liverpool, but with a game in hand.  They beat Fulham 2-0 away on the weekend and 3 of their last 4 matches in the League have had 2 goals or less in them.  They have won 15 and lost 1 home game this season and they have scored over 4 goals to every 1 conceded by an opponent at home.

Cardiff were beaten by Chelsea at home over the weekend and they currently sit 5 points clear of the side above them which is crucial as they currently occupy the last relegation position.  They have only won twice this season on the road, but those two wins have come in their last 5 away matches.

Suggested bet:  Handicap, Manchester City (-2) at PRICE TO FOLLOW

City have looked vulnerable on the road at times this season, but at home they have been dominant.  I think that Cardiff’s head may start to drop after the Chelsea defeat and given they shipped 5 goals at home to City this could get really ugly.

Prices correct at time of posting but are subject to change
