Europa League Matchday 3 Preview, 25th October

351

Matchday 3 of the Europa League takes place on Thursday and we take a look at selected matches including Arsenal’s visit to Sporting and Chelsea’s home game against BATE.

Sporting v Arsenal

These 2 sides have a 100% record so far in Group E and any winner here will be in touching distance of qualifying for the knockout rounds.

Sporting were 2-1 winners at Vorskla Poltava on Matchday 2 and they began with a 2-0 win over Qarabag in their only home game so far.

Arsenal started their campaign with a 4-2 home win over Vorskla Poltava. They followed up with a 3-0 win at Qarabag and they are in a rich vein of form right now having reeled off 7 straight wins in the Premier League.

Suggested bet: Match result draw at 24/10

The Arsenal team sheet will be interesting given they are going so well in the EPL and if they do rest any key players an interest in the draw could pay dividends.

RB Leipzig v Celtic

Salzburg top this group with 6 points from 2 matches whilst Leipzig and Celtic both have 3 and Rosenborg have yet to open their account.

Leipzig went down 3-2 at home to Salzburg in their opening group match but they repaired some of that damage with a 3-1 win away to Rosenborg.

Meanwhile Celtic started with a 1-0 win over Rosenborg in Glasgow but they went down 3-1 at Salzburg on Matchday 2.

Leipzig 9/20

Draw 77/20

Celtic 11/2

Suggested bet: Both teams to score? (yes) at 7/10

This looks tough for Celtic but we fancy they can at least contribute to the scoring in what should be an entertaining game.

Chelsea v BATE

Chelsea top Group L having won both their matches so far and we may well see some fringe players given some game time here. They haven’t hit the same heights we have seen in the Premier League in doing just enough to win 1-0 away at PAOK and 1-0 at home to MOL Vidi.

BATE have 3 points to their name, the same number as PAOK and its likely there will be only room for 1 of those 2 sides when it comes to qualifying. BATE began with a 2-0 win at MOL Vidi but they were thrashed 4-1 at home by PAOK on Matchday 2.

Chelsea 1 / 7

Draw 27/4

BATE 17/1

Note: Prices correct at the time of posting but are subject to change

Suggested bet: Anytime Goalscorer, Olivier Giroud at 15/20

We will work on the assumption that Giroud will start the game and if that proves to be the case he should have plenty of opportunities to find the net.

Rangers v Spartak Moscow

Group G is one of the more competitive quartets and Rangers are doing really well to lead the way. Having come through a marathon qualifying campaign unbeaten they picked up an excellent 2-2 draw at Villarreal and followed up with a 3-1 win at home to Rapid Vienna.

Spartak parted company with their coach recently and they are bottom of the group with 1 point against their name. They lost 2-0 at Rapid Vienna first time out and then played out a 2-2 draw with Villarreal on Matchday 2.

Rangers 12/10

Draw 49/20

Spartak Moscow 42/20

Suggested bet:  Over 2.5 goals at 8/10

We have seen plenty of goals in this group so far and we look for that trend to continue here.
