France were very impressive in their quarter-final beating Uruguay 2-0 in what was a very different match to their last 16 encounter against Argentina where they came from 2-1 down to win 4-3. France had topped their group with 7 points through 2 victories over Peru and Australia and a 0-0 draw against Denmark.
Belgium knocked out tournament favourites, Brazil, 2-1 in their quarter-final match having raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half. They had come from 2-0 behind in their last 16 encounter to beat Japan 3-2 with a dramatic late winner and they won all 3 of their group matches including a 1-0 victory over England.
France and Belgium last met in a friendly International in 2015 with Belgium winning 4-3 but prior to that they had played out successive goalless draws against each other.
Suggested bet: The draw at 22/10.
I have been very impressed with both of these sides but at the same time I don’t see much between them in terms of ability and given the importance of this occasion I don’t think either team will give much away. We have had plenty of close games in the knock-out stages and the price of the draw at 22/10 is enough to tempt me.
