The second T20 international between India and New Zealand takes place in Rajkot on Saturday and the Black Caps need a win to stay in the series.
The first T20 was staged in Delhi on Wednesday, India started as firm favourites, trading at around 4/10 and they obliged for favourite backers with a 53 run victory.
Batting first India posted a total of 202/3 with openers Sharma and Dhawan both making 80. Ish Sodi was by far the pick of the New Zealand bowlers, returning figures of 2/25 in his 4 overs whilst front line seamers Boult and Southee were both taken for more than 10 runs per over.
With a hefty total on the board India were in control and in the chase they removed NZ openers Guptill and Munro cheaply. The most significant resistance came from Latham who top scored with 39 in New Zealand’s total of 149/8. Indian spinners Chahal (2/26) and Patel (2/20) helped strangle the NZ chase and the game was over as a contest some way from home.
India hit 10 sixes to New Zealand’s 4 on Wednesday and at 1-0 up with 2 to play, another win for the hosts here will seal a series win ahead of the third and final T20 at Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday of next week.
Head to Head
It will surprise many to know that Wednesday’s Indian victory was their first in a T20 international against New Zealand and overall the Black Caps have won 5 to India’s 1

New Zealand 2/1

Bet: Most Match Sixes, India at 8/10
We might see a much improved show from New Zealand but India look to have the stronger bowling attack and we fancy the home sides batsmen to hit more 6’s than their counterparts.
