Conor McGregor returns to the Octagon in the early hours of Sunday morning South African time in UFC 229 and we take a look at the match-up with lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov from a betting angle.
The fight takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Les Vegas, the same venue were McGregor was defeated in the boxing ring by Mayweather over a year ago.
Khabib has a 26-0 record and is a Russian mixed marshal artist. His 26 match undefeated streak at MMA is currently the longest around and he is the reigning UFC lightweight champion. The 30 year old with the nickname, The Eagle, makes the first defence of his UFC lightweight title which he won by unanimous decision when he beat Al Liquinta. 5 of his last 7 victories have been by unanimous decisions with one TKO and a submission.
McGregor is also 30 years old and the Irishman is a mixed marshal artist and boxer. He is a former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion. His MMA record reads 24 fights with 21 wins, 18 by knock-out and his 3 losses have come by submission.
There is not much love lost between the pair and both men are talking about finishing the fight early.

Khabib Nurmagomedov 6/10
Conor McGregor 13/10
Suggested bet: Method of victory, Double chance, Khabib Nurmagomedov by KO/TKO/TQ or submission at 11/10.
This fight will be a fascinating contrast of styles with McGregor looking to stay on his feet and use his striking ability to win whereas Nurmagomedov will be looking to get McGregor to the ground where he would be likely to dominate. I can see McGregor possibly staying out of reach for a while but I expect there will be a point where this fight does go to the ground and in that case I can only see one winner.
