Nedbank Cup Round 32, Betting Preview

The Nedbank Cup continues this weekend and we take a look at 3 of the live matches and suggest a bet in each.

Cape Town All Stars v Mamelodi Sundowns – click here to bet

PSL log leaders Sundowns are away to First Division Cape Town All Stars on Friday night.  Cape Town All Stars are currently 10th in the First Division and while undefeated in their last 5 matches, 4 of those have been draws.  They are coming off a 0-0 draw away to Richard’s Bay on the weekend.  The Cape side reached the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup thanks to a 2-0 home win over Tshakhuma and last season they lost 2-0 to Wits in this round.

Sundowns beat Cape Town City 1-0 away last Friday night and they currently lead the PSL by 5 points.  Sundowns haven’t got a very strong recent Nedbank Cup record, losing in the last 16 last season and the year before that in the quarter-finals, although they did win the tournament back in 2015.

These sides have never played a competitive football match against each other.

Cape Town All Stars 21/4

Draw 41/20

Mamelodi Sundowns 7/10

Suggested bet:Sundowns win at 7/10.

There is always a danger that the top 5 teams don’t take this competition seriously in the early stages but Sundowns look to have plenty of depth and I cannot look past an away win here.

Orlando Pirates v Ajax Cape Townclick here to bet

Saturday’s featured Nedbank Cup game sees Orlando Pirates at home to Ajax in an all PSL affair. Pirates are currently 2nd on the log, having beaten Maritzburg United 2-1 at home in their last start.  Pirates have been beaten finalists the last 2 years of this competition, going down to SuperSport United on each occasion.  In fact SuperSport United are the side who have beaten them in this Cup in the last 3 renewals.

Ajax Cape Town have been dumped out of this round of the Nedbank Cup in 6 of the last 7 years and their exception was 3 years ago when they went all the way to the final before losing to Sundowns on penalties. Ajax are currently 2nd from bottom in the PSL but are undefeated in their last 3 League matches.

These sides met just over a week ago in Cape Town in the PSL with Ajax winning 3-0 and Pirates beat Ajax 1-0 at home earlier in the season.

Orlando Pirates 17/20

Draw 2/1

Ajax Cape Town 79/20

Suggested bet:  Pirates win at 17/20.

Pirates have a proud record in this competition and their fans will settle for nothing less than them giving a 100%.  Looking at Ajax’s record in this competition I might have to say that the 17/20 for a home win looks a cracking price

Kaizer Chiefs v Golden Arrowsclick here to bet

Kaizer Chiefs and Golden Arrows meet in an all PSL affair on Sunday.  Chiefs are currently 4th on the table and while undefeated in their last 5 matches, 3 of those games have been drawn including a 1-1 away draw at Wits on the weekend.  Chiefs won this Tournament back in 2013 and they made the semi-finals the following year but in the last 3 years their best performance was a quarter-final defeat to SuperSport United last season.

Golden Arrows were beaten semi-finalists last season and that was their 2nd semi-final in 3 years.  Arrows are currently 12th on the log and have only taken 2 points from the last 9 they have played for in the League, most recently losing 2-1 away to AmaZulu.

Kaizer Chiefs and Golden Arrows played to a 0-0 draw at Chiefs earlier in the season.

Kaizer Chiefs 11/10

Draw 37/20

Golden Arrows 3/1

Suggested Bet:  Under 1.5 goals at 5/4,

This is the makings of a very tight and low scoring affair and I fancy that if we do get a victor it will be by a 1-0 margin.
