Nedbank Cup Semi-Finals Preview

The Nedbank Cup semi-finals take place on Saturday and we look at both games from a betting angle.

Let’s start with a look at the outright betting where Kaizer Chiefs are the 8/10 favourites ahead of Golden Arrows at 5/2, Chippa United are 5/1 with TS Galaxy the rank outsiders at 13/1 – click here for outright betting.

Golden Arrows v TS Galaxy

Golden Arrows have booked their spot in the last four thanks to 3 away victories including beating fellow PSL team Bloem Celtic 2-1 in the quarter-finals.  They have been in pretty good form in the League as well and are undefeated in their last 4 matches in all competitions.

TS Galaxy currently ply their trade in the First Division where they currently mid-table and last time out they lost 1-0 at home to Royal Eagles.  They opened up their Nedbank Cup campaign with a 5-2 home win over Ajax Cape Town and since then they have had 3 successive away victories and in the quarter-finals they beat fellow First Division side Cape Umoya United 2-1 on the road.

Golden Arrows 15/20

Draw 47/20

TS Galaxy 17/4

Suggested bet:  Golden Arrows win at 15/20

Arrows will have few better chances of booking their spot in the Final and I expect them to take advantage and win in regulation.

Chippa United v Kaizer Chiefs

Chippa United beat Bidvest Wits on penalties in their quarter-final and prior to that they had seen off Tshakhuma at home and Mamelodi Sundowns also at home.  Their most recent League match was a 1-0 home defeat to Wits and they currently sit 15th on the table and in the relegation playoff spot.

Kaizer Chiefs beat Cape Town City 2-0 at home in their quarter-final, but they did require extra time against lower division side The Magic and Tornado FC in their last 16 and last 32 matches respectively.  Chiefs are 7th in the League and are without a victory in their last 3 starts.

Chippa United 63/20

Draw 23/10

Kaizer Chiefs 19/20

Suggested bet:  The draw at 23/10

Both teams will be up for this clash with Chippa United looking to save their season and Kaizer Chiefs will also be under pressure to perform after a disappointing League campaign.  Chiefs have only won once in their last 4 visits to Chippa and I fancy a draw after 90 minutes.
