Friday’s Trans-Tasman T20 series match sees New Zealand host Australia in Auckland and whilst the Australian’s are already assured of a place in the final, the Black Caps still have work to do to ensure they join them.
This is match number 5 in the series and Australia top the log with 3 wins from 3 games, New Zealand have 1 win and 1 defeat against their name and England have suffered 3 straight defeats. If New Zealand win here they will definitely go through to next week’s final, if they lose they could still be collared by England whom they face in the final match of the round robin stage on Sunday.
Match 4 saw New Zealand beat England by 12 runs in Wellington on Tuesday. Batting first the Black Caps posted an impressive 196/5 with Guptill (65) and Williamson (72) getting the bulk of the runs. England came out firing but their chase ran out of steam and they were all out for 194.
New Zealand now renew rivalry with Australia and when the teams met in Sydney in Match 1 of this series Australia cruised o a 7 wicket (DLS) win thanks largely to Stanlake (3/15) and Tye (4/23) restricting NZ to 119/9 in 20 overs. Rain saw the target revised and Australia ran out comfortable winners.
Head to Head
Overall the teams have met 7 times with Australia winning 5, New Zealand winning 1 and there has been 1 tie

Bets: Player Performances, Maxwell over 36.5 points at 5/6
Maxwell has been in terrific form and although New Zealand have home advantage this time, he looks worth following in the player performance market where points are awarded for runs, wickets and catches.
