Pakistan’ bowlers dominated Australia in the first T20 and the teams now move on to Dubai for Friday’s second contest in a three match series.
Pakistan were marginal favourites to win the series opener in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and they came through with a more than convincing 66 run victory.
Batting first Pakistan posted 155/8 and Babar Azam, who opened the batting, was unbeaten on 68 off 55 balls with Hafeez also contributing 39. Pakistan hit 4 maximums in their innings and Stanlake 3/21 and Tye 3/24 were the pick of the Australian bowlers.
Australia lost opener Finch off the third ball of the chase and their top order disintegrated. At 22/6 a real embarrassment looked on the cards and it needed Coultier Nile (34) batting at number 8 to restore even a hint of pride. Australia were all out for 89 in 16.5 overs and Imad wasim was top Pakistan bowler with 3/20.
This is how the teams lined up on Wednesday
Pakistan Squad: Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez, Babar Azam, Sarfraz Ahmed(c), Hussain Talat, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim, Faheem Ashraf, Asif Ali
Australia Squad: Aaron Finch(c), Alex Carey, Ashton Agar, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Chris Lynn, Glenn Maxwell, D Arcy Short, Billy Stanlake, Andrew Tye, Adam Zampa, Ben McDermott
