Pro 14 Round 20 Preview

The Pro 14 enters its penultimate weekend of Group action and we take a look at the games involving South African teams, the Cheetahs and the Kings and suggest a bet in each.

Southern Kings v Ospreys

The Southern Kings are second from bottom of Conference B having been held to an 18-18 draw at home last week by the Dragons, the only team below them on the table.  The Kings have won 2 of 19 matches this season, but both of those wins have come at home.

They face an Ospreys side which has an outside chance of making the playoffs and a more realistic one of finishing 4th in Conference A.  They currently lie 5th with 10 wins in their 19 games and last week they were too strong for the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein despite the home side being well backed.

These sides met last season when the Ospreys hosted the Kings and won 26-12.

Kings 4/1

Draw 25/1

Ospreys 1/6

Kings +12.5 at 9/10

Ospreys -12.5 at 9/10

Suggested bet:  Handicap, Ospreys (-12.5) at 9/10

The Kings were very disappointing last week against the Dragons and the Ospreys impressed against the Cheetahs.  The Ospreys have that bit more to play for and I think we should see them beat the Kings side by 13 points or more.

Cheetahs v Dragons

The Cheetahs have had a disappointing season and sit second from bottom in Conference A with 6 wins in their 19 starts.  They were particularly disappointing last week at home to the Ospreys when they were backed into favourites only to lose by 17 points after a terrible start.

They now face the Dragons who sit bottom of Conference B having drawn 18-18 with the Kings away last week.

The Dragons and the Cheetahs met in Europe last season with the Cheetahs winning 29-17.

Cheetahs 1/5

Draw 25/1

Dragons 7/2

Cheetahs -11.5 at 9/10

Dragons +11.5 at 9/10

Suggested bet:  Handicap, Cheetahs (-11.5) at 9/10

It is hard to back this Cheetahs side with any confidence, but the Dragons have really offered very little this season and hopefully the Cheetahs can put in an 80 minute performance to beat the handicap.
