PSL Preview, 1 and 2 December

Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are both in action on Saturday and we take a look at their Absa Premiership matches as well as the big Tshwane Derby taking place on Sunday.

Golden Arrows v Kaizer Chiefsclick here to bet

Golden Arrows have slipped down the table to 11th place after a run which has seen them only win 1 of their last 11 matches and they were beaten 2-1 at home by Baroka in their last start.  Arrows have drawn 4 of their last 6 games and their home matches have been low scoring with just 1 of the 6 having 3 goals or more in it and there has been just 9 goals across the 6 games.

Chiefs are 6th on the table but have only won 1 of their last 5 and were disappointing in drawing 0-0 with Chippa in their last start.  6 of the last 7 Chiefs matches have had less than 3 goals in them and their away games average 2 goals each this season.

Golden arrows 24/10

Draw 37/20

Kaizer Chiefs 14/10

Suggested bet:  Golden Arrows Clean Sheet, YES, at 2/1.

This is a bit of a speculative play on a match where I am struggling for an angle but Arrows defence has been tight at home and Chiefs are battling a bit at the moment.

Orlando Pirates v Maritzburg United – click here to bet

Pirates go into the weekend top of the log, 2 points ahead of their nearest rivals but having played 2 games more.  They are undefeated in their last 9 PSL matches and their last start was a goalless draw away at Sundowns.  They have battled a bit at home winning just 2 out of 6 and 50% of Pirates home matches have gone over 2.5 goals.

Maritzburg are battling to follow up their successes of last season and they are currently 14th, just outside the relegation zone.  They have not won in their last 5 League matches and 5 of their last 7 PSL games have been draws.  Maritzburg away games have been really low scoring and only average 1.3 goals apiece.

Orlando Pirates 6/10

Draw 27/10

Maritzburg United 5/1

Suggested bet:  Handicap, Pirates (-1) at 18/10.

I am really impressed by the way Pirates have been playing and they look to have goals in them although they are sometimes guilty of not taking their chances.  Maritzburg are really battling to find the net and if Pirates do win this game, as I expect they will, I think it will be by more than a goal.

SuperSport United v Mamelodi Sundownsclick here to bet

The PSL clash of the weekend takes place on Sunday when SuperSport host Mamelodi Sundowns.

Heading into the weekend SuperSport were 4th, a point ahead of Sundowns in 5th and having played 1 game more.  SuperSport are undefeated in their last 6 matches, 4 of which have been draws, but they have won 3 of their 4 home matches this season and are undefeated in front of their own fans.

Sundowns remain undefeated in the League and they have won 2 of their last 3 away matches.  SuperSport home matches averaged 2.5 goals and Sundowns away games averaged 2 goals exactly.

Sundowns have won this fixture 4 years in a row.

SuperSport United 2/1

Draw 37/20

Mamelodi Sundowns 17/10

Suggested bet:  Sundowns win at 17/10.

It is not the most confident of calls and I am going to go with the stats on this one.  Sundowns tend to lift themselves when playing away at their neighbours SuperSport and I am backing them to continue their recent dominance.
