PSL Preview, 10 and 11 November

We take a look at the live Absa Premier League matches taking place over the weekend and suggest a bet in each.

Mamelodi Sundowns v Orlando Pirates – click here to bet

Things don’t get much bigger than Mamelodi Sundowns v Orlando Pirates and Saturday afternoon’s game should be a cracker.

Sundowns are 3rd on the table, 5 points behind Pirates but with 3 games in hand.  They were too strong for Free State Stars in midweek, winning 3-1 and they have yet to taste defeat in the League this season, although surprisingly that was their first home win of the campaign.  Pirates are at the top of the table thanks to a 2-1 away win at Polokwane and that was on the back of a 2-1 derby victory over Chiefs at the end of October.  They recovered from a slow start to their campaign and are unbeaten in their last 8 PSL matches.

Pirates games have tended to have goals in them and 7 of the last 8 matches have seen both teams find the back of the net.  Sundowns games have tended to be low scoring and the high scoring encounter against Free State Stars broke a run of 4 games with no more than 2 goals in them.

Mamelodi Sundowns 12/10

Draw 2/1

Orlando Pirates 27/10

Suggested bet:  Both teams to score, YES, at 21/20.

The stats back this up in the Pirates games and as good as they can be on attack they also tend to leak a goal or two.  I watched quite a bit of Sundowns match against Free State Stars and they really created some nice chances and the more I think about this game, the more I like this particular bet at anything above even money.

Kaizer Chiefs v Chippa Unitedclick here to bet

Chiefs are 4th on the table on 17 points from their 12 matches, 5 points behind leaders, Pirates.  They beat Black Leopards 1-0 in midweek and that broke a run of 3 successive games without a win.  Chippa United are 13th on the table on 8 points from their 9 matches and they have lost their last 2 games at home to Sundowns and away at Highlands.

Chippa stunned Chiefs last season doing the double over them including winning this fixture 3-0.

Kaizer Chiefs 13/20

Draw 26/10

Chippa United 9/2

Suggested bet:  Double Chance, Chippa United or the Draw at 23/20.

I don’t have any faith in this Kaizer Chiefs team at the moment and Chippa are that sort of side that causes upsets as they have proved against Chiefs in the past.

Bidvest Wits v Bloemfontein Celticclick here to bet

Wits go into the weekend 2 points behind leaders, Pirates, but with 2 games in hand.  They beat newcomers, Highlands, 1-0 at home in late October and are unbeaten in their last 3 matches.  Bloem Celtic are 5th on the table, 3 points behind Wits with a game in hand and they haven’t been in action since beating Baroka 1-0 at the end of October, that broke a run of 3 matches during which time they had only taken a single point.

Bidvest Wits 5/4

Draw 39/20

Bloemfontein Celtic 27/10

Suggested bet:  Wits Clean Sheet, YES, at 13/10.

Wits have looked very strong defensively this season and have only conceded 1 goal in their last 6 matches.

Cape Town City v Leopardsclick here to bet

Our final PSL match of the weekend takes place on Sunday and sees 11th placed Cape Town City hosting 12th placed Black Leopards.

Cape Town City beat AmaZulu 3-0 in their last start at the end of October and that broke a run of 7 matches without a victory, during which time they only got 4 points.  Black Leopards fought hard but went down 1-0 to Chiefs away in midweek and they have only taken 7 points from the last 27 they have played for and have failed to score in 4 of their last 6 games.

Cape Town City 8/10

Draw 24/10

Leopards 79/20

Suggested bet:  Cape Town City win at 8/10.

I am hoping that Cape Town City’s last victory has seen them turn the corner and they can start making their way back up the table.
