PSL Preview, 13/14 April

We take a look at the 3 live Absa Premier League fixtures taking place this weekend and suggest a bet in each.

Black Leopards v Kaizer Chiefsclick here to bet

Black Leopards have slipped to 12th on the table after back-to-back defeats away at Orlando Pirates and Polokwane.  They are only a point clear of Free State Stars in 15th and are still in danger of making the relegation playoffs.  They are undefeated in their last 5 home games and Leopards home games have averaged 2 goals each this season with 3 of their 11 matches delivering for over 2.5 goal backers.

Chiefs are 7th on the table and lost 1-0 at home to Baroka last time out, they have drawn 50% of their away matches this season and are undefeated in their last 4 away games.

Suggested bet:  Handicap, Leopards (+1) at 17/20

Of the two sides I expect Leopards to be the more motivated and given that Chiefs are battling I think that Leopards can get at least a point here.

Orlando Pirates v Free State Stars – click here to bet

Pirates are top of the table on 47 points, 3 points ahead of Sundowns in 2nd, but Sundowns have two games in hand.  Pirates have gone 6 games since their last defeat and their most recent match was a 2-0 home win over Leopards.  They have only lot once on the road this season, but they have drawn 7 of their 13 home games.

Free State Stars currently sit 15th on the table and if they stay there they will be involved in a promotion relegation playoff.  They do though have a game in hand over the two sides directly above them both who sit on the same amount of points.  They got a much needed win at home to AmaZulu last time out, but they have battled on the road this season winning just 2 of 11 matches.

Pirates won this fixture 3-1 earlier in the season and they also won last season when they hosted Free State Stars, edging them 2-1.

Suggested bet:  Both teams to score, YES, at 16/10

I expect both sides to push hard for the victory and this looks a big price when you consider that both of these sides have found the net in their last 5 head-to-head games across all competitions.

Golden Arrows v AmaZuluclick here to bet

Sundays featured match sees 9th placed Golden Arrows host 11th placed AmaZulu.  Arrows have righted the ship after a bad run and they have won their last 2 games at home to Cape Town City and away at Baroka, both by 1 goal to nil margins.  Arrows last 5 PSL matches have delivered for under 2.5 goal backers and they have won 5 of their 12 home games this season.

AmaZulu sit 5 points behind Arrows, but they did get a 6 point deduction earlier in the season.  Their recent form is poor with 4 losses and a win in their last 5 games and last time out they were beaten 1-0 at home by Chippa United.  Amazulu have only won 3 of 12 away games this season and a remarkable stat is that they haven’t yet had a draw on the road.

AmaZulu won the reverse fixture 2-0, but last season Arrows were too strong winning this fixture 4-1.

Suggested bet:  Golden Arrows win at 27/20

Arrows are playing like they did earlier in the season and AmaZulu almost seem to have lost interest now that they are unlikely to be relegated.
