PSL Preview, 2 and 3 March

We take a look at the 4 PSL matches televised live on Supersport this weekend and suggest a bet in each.

Mamelodi Sundowns v Bloemfontein Celtic click here to bet

Sundowns have gone top of the PSL log thanks to a 3-2 home win over Cape Town City in midweek. They sit a point ahead of 2nd placed Wits but with a game in hand. It was only Sundowns 4th home win of the season but they have only been defeated once in front of their home fans. The 5 goal thriller against Cape Town City was somewhat unexpected as even after that game Sundowns home matches only average 1.9 goals each.

Celtic are 8th on the log with just 1 win in their last 5 starts. They have only won 1 of their last 5 away matches scoring 6 goals and conceding 10.

Suggested bet:  Handicap Sundowns -1 at 17/10

There is no real pattern to the Head to Head results between these sides but the last time Sundowns hosted Celtic in the PSL they won by 3 goals.

Kaizer Chiefs v Highlands Parkclick here to bet

Chiefs have only taken 2 points from the last 9 they have played for and they are currently in 6th position, 10 points behind leaders Sundowns and having played a game more. Their home form has been disappointing this season with just a 30% win rate and they haven’t won at home in their last 3 attempts.

Highlands have drawn more than 50% of their fixtures this season and they currently sit 9th on the log. Their most recent action was a goalless draw away to Black Leopards and while they have only won once in 11 starts on the road they have drawn 7 of those away games.

Suggested bet:  The draw at 47/20

These sides drew the reverse fixture 0-0 and I can see another stalemate coming in what should be a tight game.

Golden Arrows v Orlando Piratesclick here to bet

Arrows are 10th on the log and they have only lost once in their last 6 starts. Their most recent match was a 1-1 at Chippa United and they have won 4 from 10 at home and their home games average 2.2 goals each.

Pirates are 3rd on the log 33 points behind Sundowns having played a game more. They turned in one of their better performances of the season when they beat Amazulu 4-1 at home last time out and they have a decent home record this season with just 2 defeats in 11 starts.

Suggested bet:  Pirates win at 27/20

Prates are in form and while they drew the reverse fixture 0-0 they have beaten Arrows in their last 3 road trips in all competitions.

Chippa United v SuperSport Unitedclick here to bet

Sundays fixture sees 14th placed Chippa United take on 5th placed Supersport. Chippa are unbeaten in their last 4 starts with 2 wins and 2 draws and they have won 3/10 at home this season with home games averaging 1.8 goals in total.

Supersport United were stunned 2-1 at home by Baroka in their last start and that broke a run of 3 successive victories. They have only won 3/11 away games this season and their away games average under 2 goals a match.

Suggested bet:  The draw at 37/20

This should be a tight low scoring affair and I think a desperate but relatively in form Chippa United can get a point.
