Will we be in for more upsets in Week 2 of the Six Nations? We take a look at the three matches from a betting angle.

Scotland were impressive in their opening fixture at home to Italy, winning 33-20 and while that was enough to see Italy backers beat the handicap, the winning margin could have been much more but for Scotland stepping off the gas in the last 10 minutes. Despite the convincing opening week win they remain outsiders for the competition at 10/1 – click here for outright betting.
Ireland started the Six Nations as 5/6 favourites, but they have drifted out to nearly 6/1 after a shock 20/32 loss to England at home last week. For many this was to be Ireland’s first step towards Rugby World Cup glory and they started 9 point favourites only for England to blow them away.
Last time these sides met in Scotland was in 2017 with the home team edging the game by 5 points.
Scotland +6.5 at 9/10
Ireland -6.5 at 9/10
Suggested bet: Handicap, Scotland (+6.5) at 9/10
There is plenty of talk about an Irish backlash after their defeat last week, but they may actually struggle to lift themselves having had so much expected of them and I think that a powerful looking Scottish side can run them close.
Italy v Wales – click here to bet
Italy scored 3 late tries to beat the handicap against Scotland but they still lost by 13 points and another season with the Wooden Spoon surely awaits them. They face a Wales side who came back from a 16-0 half-time deficit away to France to win 24-19. There was plenty to like about that Welsh second-half performance and it is no surprise to see them starting close to 20 point favourites for this game.
Italy +19.5 at 9/10
Wales -19.5 at 9/10
Suggested bet: Handicap, Wales (-19.5) at 9/10
This bet would have arrived in the last 4 meetings between these sides, including their last meeting in Italy when Wales won 33-7 in 2017. The Welsh are title contenders and are second favourites at just under 5/2 so they have plenty to play for.
England v France – click here to bet
England host France on Sunday and having stunned Ireland in Dublin last week, the English now find themselves 13/20 favourites to win the Six Nations. England were never in trouble as they started strong eventually beating Ireland by 12 points and back in front of their own fans they are going to be very tough to beat. France delivered what unfortunately is a typical performance in recent years and they looked so good in the first half when racing to a 16-0 lead over Wales, only to be pegged back and lose 24-19. One thing that first half performance showed though is that France on their day are probably capable of beating any other team and that means England cannot take them lightly.
England have won their last 6 games at home to France but only 1 of those 6 has been by more than a 12 point margin.
England -12.5 at 9/10
France +12.5 at 9/10
Suggested bet: Handicap, France +12.5 at 9/10
France’s last two games at Twickenham have seen them lose by 3 and 5 points respectively and I wouldn’t be surprised if we get something similar on Sunday.
