South Africa v Pakistan 1st Test Match Preview


Pakistan are in South Africa for a tour which comprises of 3 test matches, 5 ODI’s and 3 T20’s. The test matches are first up and the series opener gets underway in Centurion on Boxing Day.

Although South Africa are firm favourites to win this series they do take on a Pakistan team that can be very dangerous when they click. At the time of writing the Proteas were quoted at 1 / 5 to win the series whilst a draw was priced at 15/2 and Pakistan could be backed at 13/2. Click here for the outright series betting.

The Proteas bid to make amends for a poor showing in their previous test series which saw them go down 2-0 in Sri Lanka. They did beat India 2-1 and Australia 3-1 in South Africa earlier in 2018 and Faf du Plessis is skipper of the following squad.

Pakistan also let their supporters down in their most recent test series, a 2-1 defeat to New Zealand in the UAE. Prior to that they beat Australia 1-0 (2 match series in UAE) and they drew 1-1 in England.

We don’t have anything in the way of recent head to head form as the last time the teams met came in 2013 when South Africa won 3-0 on home soil and the teams finished locked up at 1-1 in a subsequent series in UAE.
