South Africa v Pakistan 3rd Test Match Preview

444

The final test match between South Africa and Pakistan starts at the Wanderers on Friday and the Proteas are looking for a 3-0 clean sweep.

Although much of the first test match was competitive the Proteas have become increasingly dominant as this series has progressed and they come into this game with the series win already assured. A 6 wicket victory at Centurion followed by a much more convincing 9 wicket win at Newlands sees the visitors staring down the barrel of a test series whitewash ahead of the 5 match ODI series and 3 T20’s still to come.

The win at Newlands was soured a touch with news that Faf du Plessis, a century maker in the first innings, has picked up a 1 match suspension for a slow over rate even though victory was secured early on Day 4. Dean Elgar will take over the skippers role and it remains to be seen if the Proteas will stick with the all pace attack of Rabada, Steyn, Philander and Olivier who shared the wickets around in Cape Town. Pieter Malan has also been called up as cover for Aiden Markram who was described as a doubtful starter at the time of writing. Watch the media for news of MArkram’s well being.

The series ends in Johannesburg where the Proteas have a hit and miss record in this format. Last year they lost to India but crushed Australia at this venue and we have seen just the 1 draw in the last 9 test matches staged on this ground.

The Proteas have obliged for short priced favourite backers in both matches so far but remember there are a number of alternative markets to the match result, including top bat and bowler and don’t forget we also bet “in play”.
