Kingsmead in Durban is the venue for the first test match between South Africa and Sri Lanka. The game gets underway on Wednesday and although the Proteas have a very poor recent record at this venue, they come into the game as overwhelming favourites.
Sri Lanka’s tour comprises of 2 test matches, 5 ODI’s and then 3 T20’s and as far as the 5 day format is concerned it will be a major surprise if the visitors are to avoid defeat. The outright markets have South Africa currently trading at 1 / 9 to win the series and 2/7 to win both test matches. A 1-0 series scoreline in favour of the Proteas is second favourite at 11/2. We also have top series bat and ball markets for each side.
Sri Lanka will know they are going to experience very different conditions to that which were encountered when the teams met in July last year, a series South Africa lost 2-0. Since then the Sri Lankan’s have struggled in the test match arena, losing 2-0 in Australia and 1-0 in New Zealand (with 1 draw) and those defeats came by wide margins.
Meanwhile the Proteas have bounced back and there was plenty to like about the way they carried off a 3-0 clean sweep of Pakistan earlier this year. They were also 3-0 winners when Sri Lanka last toured these shores over Christmas / New Year 2016/17.
One concern for the Proteas is their desperate test match record at Kingsmead with 6 defeats, 1 win and 1 draw in the last 10 years.

Suggested Bets: Batsman to score a Fifty in 1st Innings, Hashim Amla? (yes) at 13/10
After battling to find his best form Amla has shown signs that he is getting his touch back and he is taken to get 50 or more in the Proteas first innings.
