Potchefstroom is the venue for the second T20 International between South Africa and Zimbabwe and heading into Friday’s clash the Proteas lead the series 1-0 and the visitors are struggling against the spin of Imran Tahir
South Africa completed a 3-0 clean sweep of the ODI series last week and they also took out the first T20 by 34 runs in East London on Tuesday.
The Proteas won the toss and opted to bat first in the series opener and they lost both openers cheaply within the first 9 balls. Skipper Faf du Plessis steadied the ship with 34 off 20 ball but the top bat was Rassie van der Dussen who impressed with 56. David Miller contributed 39 and the innings closed on 160/6. Jarvis took 3 wickets at a cost of 37 runs and Mpofu returned figures of 2/24 off his 4 overs.
The chase never really got going and Zim were 3 wickets down with just 11 runs on the board after 3.2 overs. Despite Peter Moor’s 44 off just 21 balls the Zim batsmen came and went at regular intervals and Imran Tahir (who could be rested for the remainder of the series) claimed a 5 wicket haul. The visitors were all out for 126 and the Proteas are 1-0 up with 2 to play.
Overall the teams have met just 4 times and the Proteas have won on each occasion.
In 2010 South Africa won by 7 wickets in Bloemfontein and 8 runs in Kimberley and in the 2012 World T20 in Sri Lanka the Proteas won a pool match by 10 wickets.

Bet: Top Away Bowler, Mpofu at 4/1
Zimbabwe found Tahir almost unplayable on Tuesday but Mpofu was also excellent in East London and at 4/1 he could also be worth following as top Zim bowler.
