Sports Diary, Thursday 26 September

We take a look at some of the betting options available to punters on Thursday in our Daily Diary.

There are two Rugby World Cup matches on Thursday, the first of which features Italy against Canada at 09:45 South African time.  Italy played Namibia in their opening match winning by 25 points which is pretty close to where the bookmakers had set the line.

Canada make their debut and they are big underdogs at (+19.5) points against the Six Nations opposition.  The total points line is currently set at 50.5 and you can read our Preview of the Match by clicking here.

England take on the USA at 12:45 South African time and although they were not spectacular in their opener against Tonga they had few problems securing the bonus point win.  There has been some support for the USA on the handicap and it has shortened from (+38.5) to (+34.5) during the week.  We have a full Preview of the Match up on the WSB Blog and you can click here to read it.

The European Tour continues with the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship where Rory Mcilroy is trading as a 6/1 favourite.  There are a couple of South Africans towards the top of the betting boards including Erik van Rooyen at 35/1 and Christiaan Bezuidenhout at 60/1.

If you prefer to back Van Rooyen and Bezuidenhout in the smaller market, Van Rooyen is 7/1 and Bezuidenhout 12/1 in the Top Rest Of The World Betting.

The PGA Championship continues with the Safeway Open where Justin Thomas is an 8/1 favourite ahead of the consistent Patrick Cantlay who is 12/1.  Bryson Dechambeau should have his supporters this week at 25/1 and amongst the roughies that catch the eye is Lucas Glover currently priced at 50/1 a win and 10/1 a Top 5.

Local horse racing takes place at the Vaal Racetrack on Thursday with the first race off at 12:10 and the 8th and final race at 16:20.

The card has a very open look to it and finding a Pick Six Banker will be tough and we think it may pay to wait until the 7th and the penultimate leg of the Pick Six where Horse No. 1, Destinys Game is currently a 2/1 favourite.
