The second One Day International between Sri Lanka and England takes place in Dambulla on Saturday and after the series opener was washed out earlier this week, it’s all square with four matches to play.
The first ODI was also staged in Dambulla but only 15 overs of play were possible before the rains came and the players never returned to the field. In what play we did see England were 90/2 and scoring quickly. They lost openers Roy and Bairstow for scores in the mid 20’s and Root and Morgan were at the crease. Lasith Malinga took both wickets although he was expensive at 7.40 per over.
This is how the sides lined up on Wednesday:
Sri Lanka: Upul Tharanga, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Kusal Perera, Dinesh Chandimal (c), Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka, Thisara Perera, Akila Dananjaya, Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Pradeep, Lakshan Sandakan
England: Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan (c), Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (wk), Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Liam Dawson, Adil Rashid, Olly Stone
Sri Lanka were a big disappointment in the recent Asia Cup, losing both their group matches; first to Bangladesh (137 runs) and then Afghanistan (91 runs). Prior to that they lost 3-2 at home to South Africa, losing the first 3 matches of that series before finding some form late on.
England recovered from losing the opening match of a home series against India to come through as 2-1 winners in July whilst a month earlier they completed a 5-0 clean sweep of Australia.
Overall the teams have met 70 times with Sri Lanka winning 34, England 33 with 1 tie and 2 no results.
Sri Lanka have won 15 on home soil with England winning 6.

Note: Prices correct at the time of posting but are subject to change
Suggested Bets: Top Home Batsman, Kusal Perera at 7/2
Top Away Batsman Joe Root at 3/1
We will stick with Kusal Perera to top score for Sri Lanka whilst Joe Root at least got a look at conditions on Wednesday and he is the pick for the visitors.
