We take a look at the 3 Super Rugby matches taking place on Saturday and suggest a bet in each.

Highlanders v Bluesclick here to bet

The Highlanders started the season well with 2 victories, but they subsequently slumped to 5 consecutive defeats, most recently going down 43-17 to the Crusaders away.  They have played 3 matches at home although their one match against the Crusaders was cancelled and of the two which were completed they beat the Reds and lost to the Hurricanes.

The Blues 4 match winning streak came to an end last week when they went down 33-29 to the Chiefs in Hamilton.  They continue to battle on the road and have lost all 3 games away from home this season and the Chiefs have been their only New Zealand Derby on the road to date

The Highlanders have beaten the Blues the last 6 times they have met in Dunedin and all of those games have been by 1 to 12 point margins.

Handicap

Highlanders -2.5 at 9/10

Blues +2.5 at 9/10

Suggested bet:  Blues win at 12/10

The Blues showed me enough last week against the Chiefs to suggest that they can beat a Highlanders side that is struggling this season.

Waratahs v Rebelsclick here to bet

The Waratahs season has hit a wobble and they have lost their last 2 games, at home to the Sunwolves and away at the Blues.  They did beat the Crusaders at home though and their only Australian Derby at home this season was a 28-17 win over the Reds.

The Rebels were firm favourites last week against the Stormers, but they were beaten 41-24 at home and on the road they have won 2 and lost 2 this season with their 2 defeats coming in South Africa and their 2 away wins against Australian opposition, the Reds and the Brumbies.

The Waratahs have won 7 of their 8 meetings at home against the Rebels and last season cruised to a comfortable 51-27 victory.

Handicap

Waratahs +0.5 at 9/10

Rebels -0.5 at 9/10

Suggested bet:  Waratahs win at 1/1

The Waratahs are without Folau of course but overall they look to have a decent side and I am not sure that perhaps the Rebels are being overrated by the Bookies here.

Stormers v Brumbiesclick here to bet

The Stormers return home from Tour after winning their last match against the Rebels 41-24 in Melbourne.  Their other 3 games against the Reds, Blues and Hurricanes all ended in defeat.  This will only be the Stormers 3rd home game this season having beaten the Jaguares by 27 and the Lions by 2 points.

The Brumbies beat the Lions by 11 points in Canberra last week having started 7 point favourites.  Their form on the road though has been poor and they have lost all 4 games, two of which were Australian Derbies and the other 2 against New Zealand opposition, 3 of those 4 losses have been by 13 points or more.

The Stormers and the Brumbies haven’t met at Newlands since 2016 when the Stormers won by 20 points.

Handicap

Stormers -7.5 at 9/10

Brumbies +7.5 at 9/10

Suggested bet:  Handicap, Stormers (-7.5) at 9/10

Both sides have had to travel over from Australia and both will have been buoyed by victories last week.  The Stormers are a tough nut to crack at home and they have won 4 of their last 5 games against Australian opposition in Cape Town.
