The PGA Tour heads to México this week for the Mayakoba Classic played at The El Camaleón Golf Club and a strong looking field takes to the first tee.
Formerly known as the OHL Classic this event is played at The El Camaleón Golf Club, a par 70 course, where length is not necessarily a defining factor. Finding the greens is crucial as there will be plenty of birdies up for grabs and whenever the scoring is low then a hot putter will also be vital.
Rickie Fowler heads the betting at 8/1 with Finau 14/1, Spieth 16/1 and you can get 18/1 and better the field.
2017 – Patton Kizzire -19
2016 – Pat Perez -21
2015 – Graeme McDowell -18 *
2014 – Charley Hoffman -17
2013 – Harris English -21
Rickie Fowler 8/1
Tony Finau 14/1
Jordan Spieth 16/1
Gary Woodland 18/1
Emiliano Grillo 18/1
28/1 and better the balance, prices correct at the time of posting but are subject to change.
Si Woo Kim each way at 28/1
Kim has course form with a 3rd place finish here last year and he has looked good in recent weeks as well, finishing in the top 25 in his last 3 starts.
Jordan Spieth each way at 16/1
Spieth has been very lightly raced in recent weeks and there was nothing spectacular about his 55th place finish in the Shriners last week. He may well enjoy this course though and I have been under the impression that his putting is improving which would make him a factor this week.
Cameron Champ each way at 35/1
Champ faded out last week to finish just inside the top 30 in Vegas but he was coming off a victory the week before and following up is always difficult. Crucially he is putting excellently and I am happy to have him in my staking plan this week.
Patton Kizzire each way at 75/1
The defending champion hasn’t been in great form but he does have 2 top 25 finishes in his last 3 starts and returning to a course where he played so well could spark him this week.
