The 2018 Sanderson Farms Championship, Outright Preview

The PGA Tour returns home for the Sanderson Farms Championship taking place at The Country Club of Jackson in Mississippi this week.

This will be the 4th year that The Country Club of Jackson, a par 72 layout, is hosting this tournament.

The event clashes with the WGC Champions Tournament in China and therefore we are missing the big names and there has been historically some massive upsets in this event.  Winning scores tend to range from -16 to -20 so plenty of birdies will be needed to win and finding the Greens in Regulations is likely to be a key stat.

Sungjae Im heads the betting at 20/1 and you can 25/1 and better about any other player in the field.

Past Winners

2017 – Ryan Armour -19

2016 – Cody Gribble -20

2015 – Peter Malnati -18

2014 – Nick Taylor -16

2013 – Woody Austin -20

2014 and 2015 renewals played at this course

Outright Betting

Sungjae Im 20/1

Ryan Armour 25/1

Patrick Rodgers 25/1

Kevin Streelman 28/1

Harold Varner III 28/1

Aaron Baddeley 28/1

Dylan Frittelli 28/1

30/1 and better the balance, prices correct at the time of posting but subject to change

Dylan Frittelli each way at 28/1.

The South African has adapted well moving across to play on the PGA Tour and he has been in solid enough form of late.  He makes his debut at this course but he has won on debut before and I like him here in a very weak field.

Lucas Glover each way at 30/1.

Glover is a man returning to form after a few years in the wilderness and his last 2 starts have been a runner-up finish and a top 20.  He last played here in 2016 where he finished 5th.

Andres Romero each way at 90/1.

Great things were expected from Romero a few years ago but for some reason he never delivered on that promise, he has shown signs of what he can do over the years and has some decent course form here.

Sean O’Hair each way at 150/1.

If ever there is a tournament to back outsiders it is this one and like Romero, O’Hair hasn’t quite achieved what many thought he would in his career.  He doesn’t have much going for him in terms of recent form or course form but I am wading in here purely on price.
