The AT&T Byron Nelson 2019, Outright Preview

173

Then Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas is once again the host for the AT&T Byron Nelson and we take a look at the event from a betting angle.

Trinity Forest Golf Club is a new course and debuted on Tour when hosting this event in 2018.  It is a links style course and the players certainly got on top of it last year.  The course offered few threats to the pros last year and scoring was very low.  The greens are firm and fast and putting well will certainly be key to victory and last year’s winner Aaron Wise topped the Greens in Regulation stats so that is likely to be another important area.

Multiple Major Champion, Brooks Koepka heads the betting at 13/2 ahead of Hideki Matsuyama 16/1, Jordan Spieth 18/1 and you can get 22/1 and better the balance.

Selections

Patrick Reed each way at 30/1

Reed’s game is starting to show signs of coming back to its best and he has been working hard at it.  He showed early promise last week before finishing inside the Top 30.  Although he makes his debut here he should be course suited.

Branden Grace each way at 30/1

Grace was 3rd here on debut and it is no secret that he loves links style courses.  Like Reed he has also shown signs that his game could be coming back to its best, although he hasn’t quite been able to deliver over 4 rounds as yet.

Lucas Bjerregaard each way at 50/1

I can’t get this man out of my head after his impressive performance in the Matchplay a few weeks back.  He followed that up finishing just outside the Top 20 in The Masters and having been a regular on the European Tour has played plenty of Links golf.

Nick Watney each way at 80/1

Watney is a player I have been keeping my eye on for some time and last week he was just outside the Top 30 after a Top 10 the week before that.  His game is definitely heading in the right direction and I am hoping to be on him when he finally wins again.
