The Genesis Open 2018, Betting Preview

246

The PGA Tour moves to The Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles for the final leg of the West Coast Swing and we take a look at the Genesis Open and suggest a few bets.

The Riviera Country Club is a par 71 layout that is always a stern test for golfers.  Distance off the tee is an advantage but not critical and more important will be finding the Greens in Regulation and putting on the tricky surfaces.

Dustin Johnson won last year and he is the market leader at 5/1 to go back to back but there is plenty of quality in the field with the likes of Jordan Spieth and Rory Mcilroy at 12/1 and Justin Thomas at 18/1.  Tiger Woods makes his second outing of the year and is priced at 45/1

Selections

Dustin Johnson win at 5/1.

Johnson has an excellent record at this track and he is in superb form at the moment although would have been disappointed with only finishing tie 2nd at Pebble Beach last week.  He is massively long off the tee and his general game seems to be in great shape and I am happy to have him as a win only play.

Chez Reavie each way at 35/1

Reavie finished level with Dustin Johnson in tie 2nd last week.  Reavie’s putting stroke looks in fine shape and he has course form as well with a 7th place finish here two years ago.

Thomas Pieters each way at 45/1

Pieters was runner-up last year when making his debut in this Tournament so the course clearly fits his eye.  He has been a bit inconsistent of late but he is showing signs of coming to hand and was top 5 in Abu Dhabi a month ago.

Kevin Chappell each way at 45/1

Chappell has been on consistent form of late with a couple of top 10’s in recent weeks.  He is on record on Twitter as stating that he enjoys the course although he has battled to string 4 rounds together.
