The Genesis Open 2019, Preview

The Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles is once again the venue for the Genesis Open which makes up the final leg of the West Coast Swing and we take a look at the Tournament from a betting angle.

The Riviera Country Club is a par 71 layout that is always a stern test for golfers.  Distance off the tee is an advantage but not critical and more important will be finding the Greens in Regulation and putting on the tricky surfaces.

Despite distance not being crucial at the course, Dustin Johnson tops the boards at 8/1 ahead of Justin Thomas at 12/1 with Rory Mcilroy at 14/1 and you can get 16/1 and better the balance.  It is certainly a quality field and many eyes will be at 25/1 shot Tiger Woods as he bids to get in form for the upcoming majors.

25/1 and better the balance, odds correct at time of posting but subject to change

Justin Thomas each way at 12/1

Thomas has begun the year in good form with a pair of Top 3’s to his credit already.  His first 3 outings on this course were nothing to write home about but his Top 10 last year suggests he could be ready to challenge.

Tony Finau each way at 30/1

Finau is another player who took a while to get to grips with the course but showed that he has with a runner-up finish last year.  He hasn’t made the quickest of starts to 2019, but has shown me enough to suggest he is in with a big chance this week.

Patrick Cantlay each way at 28/1

Cantlay has had a couple of weeks off as he wasn’t well and he certainly is one of the more consistent golfers on Tour.  What catches my eye this week was his 4th place finish last year and his accurate iron play will be a big asset this week.

Ryan Moore each way at 150/1

My big roughie this week Moore has very solid course form with two Top 10’s in the last 3 years.  He is battling to find his game at the start of 2019 but is too good a player to stay down for long.
