The Turkish Airlines Open kicks off the final leg of the Rolex series events and the Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort in Antalya, Turkey plays host.
This will be the 3rd time that this par 71 layout is being used and winning scores tend to be low and the last 2 years we have seen -20 and -18 win it. A hot putter with a good all round game is required to win here as wayward shots can be punished.
2017 Champion, Justin Rose, returns to defend his title and he is a 9/2 favourite with Ryder Cup star Tommy Fleetwood 8/1 and you can 14/1 and better the balance.
2017 – Justin Rose -18
2016 – Thorbjorn Olesen -20
2015 – Victor Dubuisson -22
2014 – Brooks Koepka -17
2013 – Victor Dubuisson -24
Justin Rose 9/2
Tommy Fleetwood 8/1
Thorbjorn Olesen 14/1
Shane Lowry 20/1
Hao Tong Li 22/1
Kiradech Aphibarnrat 25/1
28/1 and better the balance, prices correct at the time of posting but are subject to change.
Matt Wallace each way at 33/1.
Wallace has been a regular on my staking plan and while I have profited on him this year it has been a while since he has really delivered the goods. He hasn’t been playing badly though and I am expecting a big run from him this week.
Tom Lewis each way at 35/1.
Lewis makes his debut here but he has been in sparkling form with two victories and two top 5’s in his last 5 starts.
Thorbjorn Olesen each way at 14/1.
The 2016 Champion finished just outside the places last week and he has been playing some excellent golf. Aside from his victory here two years ago he was also in the top 5 last year so clearly loves the layout.
George Coetzee each way at 110/1.
With my other selections all towards the top of the betting boards, I am now looking for an outsider and George Coetzee, the South African, fits the bill. He hasn’t been in great form this year although has shown occasional signs of his old spark and a 5th place here two years ago catches the eye.
