Tour de France 2018 Stage 20 Preview


Stage 20 of Tour de France sees the riders take on a 31km individual time trial from Saint Pée sur Nivelle to Espelette on Saturday, the final chance for any changes in the General Classification which is under the control of Geraint Thomas.


Race Update:

Stage 19 saw Primoz Roglic take the honours ahead of Geraint Thomas and Romian Bardet in what was the final day in the high mountains.

Geraint Thomas now leads Tom Dumoulin (+2:05), Roglic is third (2:24) and Froome fourth (2:37)

The Points Classification will be won by an Peter Sagan as long as he finishes in Paris on Sunday and likewise the King of the Mountains competition will go to Alaphilippe. Barring an absolute disaster Movistar will win the Team Classification as they are 11:19 up on Bahrain Merida.

This is a pretty lumpy route for an ITT which includes a climb of 900m at 10.2 % which tops out 3km from the finish.

Roglic was amazingly strong in winning yesterday’s stage which has seen him elevated to favourite for this time trial. It’s a discipline he specializes in but he has all the big TT specialists for company at the top of the betting boards and GC podium places are up for grabs.

Slight preference is for Tom Dumoulin
